Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield Summer Interns: Disreal Herron and Kennedy Kinley

An internship program that makes a difference in the lives of Arkansans

A crucial part of the internship program with Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield is helping our members and our communities. Interns Disreal Herron and Kennedy Kinley are in key positions to touch lives and make a difference.

Disreal Herron, who received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in May 2023, is interning with our social work team. She is from Forrest City and is the daughter of Versie and Larry Austin. She hopes to create positive change by working with several vulnerable communities.

“Another professional goal of mine is advocating for social justice for vulnerable populations through legislation,” she said. Disreal wants to gain as much knowledge as possible during her internship with Arkansas Blue Cross and plans to take her LMSW licensure exam this summer.

Kennedy Kinley is serving as a writing intern for the Blue & You Foundation for a Healthier Arkansas. She is originally from Bryant but now calls Conway home. She is the daughter of Courtney and Lance Kinley.

Kennedy graduated earlier this year from the University of Central Arkansas with a degree in English and professional writing. She hopes to gain experience as a professional writer during her summer internship, during which she will help share the story of the Blue & You Foundation.

“I am thankful to work with such an incredible team this summer,” Kennedy said. “It is encouraging to see the direct impact and importance of the work I do each day. I am honored to play even a small part in improving the health and well-being of Arkansans.”

Welcome, 2023 Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield interns!
