Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield Summer Interns: Jake Darby, Vincent Turturro and Aaron Devine

Summer internship provides interns the chance to hone valuable technical skills

It takes people with different skill sets to make sure our members get quality healthcare and coverage.

Both Jake Darby and Vincent Turturro are working in the Actuary Department at Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield where they are learning more about their chosen field.  Aaron Devine, who is working as an intern with the Group Marketing department, aspires to pursue a career as a senior analyst.

Jake is attending the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He is majoring in statistics and is set to graduate in 2024.

Jake is from Jonesboro, Arkansas and the son of Becky and Perry Darby. He will focus on risk adjustment and data modeling during his internship.

“I am excited about the opportunity to learn about and develop the skills needed to become an actuary at such a respected company,” Jake said.

Vincent graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a bachelor’s degree in math in 2020 and wants to become a healthcare insurance actuary.

He hails from Little Rock and is the son of Carolyn and Angelo Turturro. Vincent’s projects during his internship include working on an ongoing project to study and learn more about database inpatient errors to prevent future ones.

“I will get a better understanding of the actuarial profession and ideas of professional expectations by interning at Arkansas Blue Cross,” Vincent said.

Aaron is a junior at John Brown University where he’s studying data analytics and economics and served as a teaching assistant during the 2022-2023 academic year.

He is from Bryant and is the son of Tonya and Brian Devine.

During his time at Arkansas Blue Cross, Aaron will be co-leading a plan and performance review, using a schedule-enhanced service model meeting, for the company to provide updates on how the employer group is performing financially.

After graduating, he wants to pursue a career as a business analytics expert.

“This internship is one step toward achieving that goal,” Aaron said. “I am excited to learn more practical skills this summer, and I also hope to complete one more internship before I graduate, giving me more practical experience and allowing me to use the skills I’m learning in the classroom.”

Welcome, 2023 Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield interns!
