Dental Health: Spring Cleaning for Your Smile

Spring is a time of renewal – a time to hit the reset button by cleaning dust and clutter built up over the winter.

While you’re giving yourself a clean, fresh start to the season, how about giving your smile a fresh start also? It’s a great time to set up an appointment with your dentist for a little spring cleaning of your teeth.

Take care of your teeth, and they’ll help take care of you.

Like dirt collects in your house, bacteria can build up in your mouth and cause problems down the road that can be painful — and expensive. Good dental hygiene can help keep such issues at bay. This includes brushing at least twice a day, flossing daily, drinking lots of water, limiting sugar and avoiding tobacco products. But that isn’t enough.

According to the American Dental Association, you should get a dental checkup and have your teeth professionally cleaned at least twice a year.

When it comes to teeth cleanings, timing is everything. If you schedule a checkup and cleaning with your dentist now, you’ll be able to easily schedule a second visit before the end of the year.

Best of all, these regular checkups and cleanings go a long way toward ensuring that you can have a confident smile and enjoy better health year-round.
