Lonnie Robinson, M.D., of Mountain Home, a family medicine physician, has been elected to the Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield Board of Directors, according to James V. Kelley, chairman of the board.
“We are pleased to have Lonnie Robinson join the Arkansas Blue Cross board of directors,” said Kelley. “He brings a valuable frontline perspective of the healthcare delivery system to our team, which will be instrumental in helping advise us not only on critical member care and access issues but on the system overall as it continues to transform.”
Robinson is the patient-centered medical home director for Regional Family Medicine, a private practice primary care clinic comprised of eight physicians and four nurse practitioners. Robinson, his partners and staff provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to approximately 30,000 patients in North Arkansas and Southern Missouri, and were recently recognized as a Level 3 PCMH by the National Center for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
A native DeValls Bluff, Ark., Robinson received his bachelor’s degree at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, followed by his medical degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. Robinson completed his residency through the UAMS Northeast Family Medicine Residency at Jonesboro.
Active member statewide
An active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (MFP), Robinson has served nationally on the Commission on Continuing Professional Development, and at the state level as a director, alternate delegate and past-president of the Arkansas Chapter of the MFP. He is active in statewide efforts to transform primary care, serving on the state PCMH Strategic Advisory Group.
Robinson and his wife, Robin, have four children. The Robinsons have also served as a foster family affiliated with Children of Arkansas Loved for a Lifetime (CALL). The family has participated in mission trips to Honduras, Kenya and Haiti. In his spare time, Robinson enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, hunting and fishing.
