Meet Alicia Berkemeyer

Alicia Berkemeyer is the Executive Vice President and Chief Health Management Officer for Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Berkemeyer has executive responsibility for quality and accreditation, pharmacy and primary care programs, provider network innovation and strategy, medical management, population health and provider reimbursement for Arkansas Blue Cross and its affiliates.

In 1989, Berkemeyer joined Arkansas Blue Cross and has held several positions in the areas of customer service, sales and marketing, pharmacy, and provider networks. She has over 32 years of experience in the healthcare industry with a focus on primary care, pharmacy and payment innovation. She has led and managed the development of patient-centered medical homes, employer clinics and other value payment programs.

Berkemeyer played an instrumental role in Arkansas being chosen as one of only seven regions in the United States to participate in the federal Comprehensive Primary Care Initiative and assisted the state in receiving significant funding from the Centers for Medicare Services Innovation Center in the form of a State Innovation Model grant.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in business management from John Brown University in Siloam Springs. She is also a graduate of the Advanced Executive Global Program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. She is a certified health consultant, managed healthcare professional and member of the Academy of Healthcare Management.

She currently serves on the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), College of Pharmacy Dean’s Advisory Council, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Board, Divine Mercy Clinic Board and University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) Advisory Council for the College of Business.
