NAMI Campus Outreach: Supporting Behavioral Health for Students

Teens and young adults are in a critical time period for understanding and talking about mental health. When friends and family members are going through a tough time, we want to be there for them.

Having candid conversations about mental health can reduce the stigma often associated with behavioral health conditions.

The Arkansas chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is on a mission to help people with mental illness, their families and the community live a stigma-free life. NAMI High School Clubs and NAMI On Campus empower high school and college students, respectively, to raise awareness around the importance of mental health.

These student-run programs host movie nights, health fairs and speakers to address the unique mental health challenges faced by teens and young adults. This is a positive way to continue to make a difference in these special communities and normalize the conversation. To join a club or start a new one at school, connect with NAMI or call 800-844-0381.

Addressing Mental Health Stigma

Reducing stigma by helping people understand behavioral health needs and removing barriers that stand between them is an essential focus of NAMI and the Blue & You Foundation. We believe that addressing the behavioral healthcare needs of our state requires collaboration with local organizations that continue to improve the lives of students, their families, and communities.
