Why Andrea Ramsey Belongs At Blue

Andrea Ramsey grew up bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish, and pursued a double major in Spanish and technical writing. She knew she wanted a career that combined these two things, but she could not have anticipated the statewide impact she would make by joining Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

Ramsey started as a bilingual customer service representative at Arkansas Blue Cross in 2015 after graduating from college.

“I knew during my new hire orientation that I would stay at Arkansas Blue Cross until retirement,” Ramsey said. “I have felt welcomed and included since the beginning. The company’s competitive benefits and development opportunities are excellent, but I also appreciate Arkansas Blue Cross’ commitment to go beyond providing health insurance to making sure Arkansans have access to health and wellness resources.”

In her current role as a curriculum and course developer for our employees, Ramsey appreciates the challenge of keeping up with the ever-changing healthcare industry so employees are equipped to help our members. She also gets to advise on curriculum to support new hire and strength training in the current virtual environment. Ramsey also provides insight to the needs of the bilingual customer service team related to translations and processes when handling a call in Spanish.

“I was also given the opportunity to assist in translating materials for the statewide ‘Vaccinate the Natural State’ campaign,” Ramsey said. “I was excited to be part of something so important!”

Ramsey encourages everyone to consider a career at Arkansas Blue Cross.

“My leadership team makes me feel valued by highlighting my strengths and acknowledging my accomplishments,” Ramsey said, “So I look forward to new projects and the chance to work with my team. There is a place for everyone here. The possibilities for career growth and development are limitless as long as you put yourself out there.”

Arkansas Blue Cross has been named one of central Arkansas’ “Top Work Places” by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and has earned a top ranking in the large business category multiple times since 2012. The company has also been named by Forbes Magazine among the Nation’s Best Employers of 2022.

Along with tuition reimbursement, full-time Arkansas Blue Cross employees enjoy other benefits, like wellness education and exercise incentives, an in-house restaurant with a health-focused menu, and on-site gyms and workout spaces.

Arkansas Blue Cross employees care about their community and work together to help others. If you see a gathering of Blue T-shirts at an event, you are probably seeing our Blue team! And whether it’s within our state or around the world, Arkansas Blue Cross employees volunteer when disasters strike. It’s just another way we show that Blue cares.
