Why Garner Mitchell Belongs At Blue

You take note when you hear about a company where two family members have worked and enjoyed it for more than 30 years. That’s exactly what Garner Mitchell heard seven years ago. He is now a customer service representative III for Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield. He agrees it’s a great place to work.

“Arkansas Blue Cross cares about its customers and its employees, a value that is hard to come by for most large companies,” Garner said.

Garner is one of many Arkansas Blue Cross employees who has found health insurance to be a career that is exciting, challenging and rewarding. “I have gained so much knowledge about the medical field, and because of that, I feel I can provide real help to people. Helping people has been the most rewarding part of my job.”

Over the course of his career at Arkansas Blue Cross, Garner has had a chance to see the company’s culture. “The diversity within the company is vast and largely embraced by employees and leaders alike. I have felt welcomed with open arms from day one from all of my coworkers and leaders.”

“There is a true philosophy of working together to provide the best result,” he said. “It is demonstrated on a daily basis. The opportunity to grow within the company is limitless.”

So would Garner recommend his best friend to apply to Arkansas Blue Cross?

“Arkansas Blue Cross is a great company to work for. They value their employees and care about their customers. They offer great benefits and great pay. You can make a career at Arkansas Blue Cross and enjoy what you do every day.”

Arkansas Blue Cross has been named one of central Arkansas’ “Top Work Places” by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and has earned a top ranking in the large business category multiple times since 2012. The company has also been named by Forbes Magazine among the Nation’s Best Employers of 2022.

Along with tuition reimbursement, full-time Arkansas Blue Cross employees enjoy other benefits, like wellness education and exercise incentives, an in-house restaurant with a health-focused menu, and on-site gyms and workout spaces.

Arkansas Blue Cross employees care about their community and work together to help others. If you see a gathering of Blue T-shirts at an event, you are probably seeing our Blue team! And whether it’s within our state or around the world, Arkansas Blue Cross employees volunteer when disasters strike. It’s just another way we show that Blue cares.
