Why Taana Wade Belongs At Blue

A big part of job satisfaction comes from knowing paths up the company ladder exist for many employees. A good company doesn’t keep a team member stuck in one role throughout their working life. Taana Wade, a registered nurse who is a utilization coordinator at Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield, has already seized the opportunity to advance, even as she has been employed for less than three years.

“I was hired in the Medical Audit and Review Services department for prior authorizations in 2019. At the end of 2021, I began my new role as RN Utilization Coordinator, a career advancement towards my leadership goals. I assist leadership in coordinating and maintaining utilization reviews, including clinical and claims reviews to resolve medical, contractual or technical issues. The coordinator also researches, analyzes, and provides resolution to more difficult and complex cases.”

Taana’s experience at Arkansas Blue Cross hasn’t been dull.

“I find my job to be exciting, and there is never a dull moment. There is constant change in the health insurance industry. The constant changes allow for growth in education and development.”

Taana also appreciates how the company she works for serves the community.

“Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield allows me to give back to my community through my daily work tasks, cereal drives, donations, and volunteer work at community vaccine clinics.”

Arkansas Blue Cross has been named one of central Arkansas’ “Top Work Places” by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and has earned a top ranking in the large business category multiple times since 2012. Forbes Magazine has also named the company among the Nation’s Best Employers of 2022.

Along with tuition reimbursement, full-time Arkansas Blue Cross employees enjoy other benefits, like wellness education and exercise incentives, an in-house restaurant with a health-focused menu, and on-site gyms and workout spaces.

Taana has felt at home at Arkansas Blue Cross from the first day. She appreciates how the company has invested in her and helped her move forward to a brighter future.

“I felt welcomed and included since my first day of employment. There are plenty of opportunities for growth and development. Numerous skill-building tools, platforms, educational classes, and courses through national associations are available to employees. I am currently taking a Managed Healthcare Professional (MHP) course online through AHIP to receive MHP certification. The company has paid for these courses with stipulations. This is another incentive.”
